Well done to all those swimmers who competed on the hottest day of the year so far at the Crawley Summer Splash Meet.
For many of our younger swimmers it was their first experience of racing long course in an Olympic size 50m swimming pool, at K2 Leisure Centre Crawley.
Head coach John Molyneaux said: “Well done to all who competed at a very warm K2 in Crawley, the standard of swimming was superb.
“Swimming long course is really important in all swimmers development, especially with the County Championships being long course for 15yrs above; Regionals and Nationals. What was very pleasing to see was the number of swimmers bettering their short course (25 metre races) best times at this meet, this cannot be taken lightly as there is significant difference between racing short course and long course, hence why we encourage people not to convert times and to treat the PBs separately.
“One thing that this does highlight is the importance of great turns; the challenge now comes at our end of season meet to step up when swimming short course.”
