Top Squad swimmer Ellen Jewell has received an award for her outstanding commitment to Physical Education at her school, Fareham Academy.
The following citation was read out at the awards evening about Ellen:
Ellen has shown an outstanding commitment to Physical Education since her short time being at Fareham Academy. Her passion to learn new skills, be involved and make the most of every opportunity is unfathomable.
Ellen has represented the school in a number of activities showing true dedication and sporting excellence. Ellen’s commitment to after school activities is exemplary. She has represented the school in cross county, netball, athletics and dance. Ellen excelled in cross country where she finished 1st in the Gosport and Fareham schools championships winning all four races, each out of 80 others girls. This led her to represent the area at the Hampshire schools cross country championships in Basingstoke where she finished 41st out of 126 runners, an amazing achievement.
Ellen’s talents don’t stop at running, she also is a committed member of dance club. Ellen is there every week choreographing, performing, practicing, and has even represented the school at the Fareham and Gosport Annual Dance Show.
Unphased by challenge, Ellen was determined to get into netball from day one at Fareham Academy. With no knowledge of the rules or positions Ellen persisted with training every week and soon became a valued member of the team. She has since played in weekly matches and summer tournaments in a variety of demanding positions.
On top of all of these outstanding performances, Ellen is very humble about her swimming achievements outside of school. Ellen frequently trains before and after school and at weekends with Fareham Nomads. She is currently in the Under 12s county and regional swimming squads.
Ellen embraces every opportunity no matter how big or small, and does so with such enthusiasm and appreciation. She is an absolute credit to the school.
Well done Ellen!
