More than 90 athletes made a splash before hitting the ground running at the Fareham Nomads Summer Biathlon.

Participants aged between seven and 59 years old took part at West Hill Park School in Titchfield, Fareham.

Distances varied with age, running either 800m or 1600m, and swimming 50m, 100m or 200m.

Organiser Barry Jewell, from Fareham Nomads, said: “It was a great opportunity to compete in something a little bit different, with some parents getting involved too.

“There was a great family fun atmosphere with the weather holding out.

“We have reintroduced this event into the Fareham Nomads swimming calendar, reinventing the tradition of yesteryears.”

Fareham Nomads Swimming Club had the largest entry with 36 members competing, followed by Harrison Primary who had 20.

The Visitors Team Trophy was awarded to Portsmouth Northsea, who beat Gosport Dolphins and Harrison Primary to take the top spot.
