Six Fareham Nomads swimmers dived into their first weekend of the 14/Under Swim England South East Championships.
Charlie Holyer, Amelia Boyes and Evie Rowsell, who competed at this event for the first time, were joined by Ellen Jewell, Joe Davies, and Hannah Cooper at K2 Leisure Centre, Crawley, on May 13 and 14.
Head Coach John Molyneaux said: “Our 14-year old and under swimmers did a good job at the weekend. We are looking to build their results at the next weekend of racing.”
Charlie Holyer finished in the top 20 for all his events, coming 7th in the 1500m freestyle, 19th in the 100m freestyle in a personal best time of 1:08.20 and 18th in the 200m freestyle in a personal best time of 2:27.21.
Recovering from a back injury, Ellen Jewell, qualified fourth in the 100m backstroke with a personal best time of 1:14.28, before finishing 5th in the final. She also placed 20th in the 50m freestyle, as well as 14th in the 200m backstroke and 200 Individual Medley.
Hannah Cooper swam a personal best time of 37.08 in the heat of her 50m breaststroke to come joint 10th. There was a tense swim-off in which she swam a time of 37.33, which placed her 11th in the final results.
Joe Davies came 15th in the 50m backstroke, Amelia Boyes came 15th in the 50m freestyle with over one second improvement on her personal best time and Evie Rowsell came 18th in a personal best time in the 200m backstroke in 2:38.63.
